Opera Training- Apr/May 2005

Tipa, 4th April,2005 : In keeping up with the aim and objective of the Institution, in dissemination of Tibetan performing tradition. A month long vigorous opera course is under way for selective members of Settlement opera association. Two participants from each opera association were invited to study the essentials of Tibetan operatic tradition.

The course includes, Shung sang (narration), rNga sbub (Drum and cymbal), trab kyal (physical dance and limb motion) and recitation of namthar (aria). The class are conducted by Mr. Lobsang Samten (Gyen Tiny la), Mr. Gonpo Dorjee, Mr. Tsering Lodoe, Mrs. Tsultrim Dolma and Mrs. Tsering Paldon

The group comprises of 11 male artistes and 4 female artistes. After the course the members will return back to their respective opera association to share their knowledge and experience with their fellow artiste.
