Our High Quality Tingshaws are made of a premium metal which creates a much greater sound and resonance when chimed.
"Om Mani Padme Hum" is the most well known Buddhist Mantra.
It directly translates to "Aum, to the jewel in the Lotus, hum" and is used to invoke the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Chenrezi. It it said to help fight against negative karma and bring an overall sense of peace to those who recite it.
Traditionally tingshaws are used to mark both the beginning and end of meditation. They can also be chimed during meditation to re-focus if one becomes distracted during the process.
Our Tibetan Arts Market Tingshaws are hand cast in Nepal of an alloy of Bronze, Iron, and Zinc.
Unlike a Tibetan Singing Bowl, Tibetan Tingshaws purposely create dissonant tones to create a more penetrating sound. They can be quietly chimed by lightly tapping each chime together, or be chimed loudly by holding the leather cord in the center and using your momentum to allow the chimes to strongly strike each other.
